This Nurses in History ecard is a sequence of photos of nurses, their names and/or what work they did beginning with a photo of Florence Nightingale with her name next to the photo. Next, nurse Madeleine Jaffray with her name next to her. Next, a photo from 1922 with a nurse with her medical bag on a house’s front porch with two women and 3 children and there is a note on the card: “Child health demonstrations. The visiting nurse and her friends friends. Nov. 1922.” The next photo is of 2 nurses from early 1900’s with heavy coats and dresses as well as hat and they are navy nurses. The next photo is of 5 African American nurses from the 1950’s around a stretcher in an operating room and the words “African American Nurses” written at the bottom of the screen. Next, a photo of 6 Native American nurses being taught as they are working on 6 people on the ground and the words “Native American nurses” written at the bottom of the screen. Next a photo from the first World War of 4 nurses helping 2 soldiers and everyone is wearing breathing masks. Next photo from the 1940’s of an African American nurse with her medical bag standing in front of a house to a 1970’s photo of a nurse attending to a patient in a medical ward. Then, photo of an army nurses holding the hand of a young injured man in bed with breathing mask. The final screen shows a vintage postcard of a nurse pouring syrup in a spoon while 4 young boys are sick in bed. The words on the postcard are “Everybody loves a Nurse! … and thank you!”
