Carpe April Fools Diem/ Create Shocks and Giggles

I have enjoyed turning my husband white with shock using several April Fools Pranks: “I’m Pregnant” (my favorite), “There’s a plane in the front yard!”(deliver the stuttering & red faced), or “there’s a rattle snake in the bathtub!” (deliver red faced while screaming and jumping frantically ).  Good times.  Seldom can I remember having this much fun.  I don’t forget the kids either.  These are my favorites: open their drawer for their morning clothes and scream “RATS!” and run away; or run inside the house in total wide-eyed shock yelling “Oh my God (beat) there’s a giant UFO outside, pack your bags (run off to open drawers throwing everything in a bag); or my all time favorite, “kids we are moving to Syberia(beat, muster tear) it’s only temporary…I hope” (break down sobbing).
Looking around for this year’s inspiration I found a fun site of top 100 hoaxes: Museum of Hoaxes.
Since life is short, we must create giggles and laughs for those we cherish. Otherwise life would be dull. For this purpose we made Cupcake Surprise, which is turning out to be a customer favorite. It still makes Bennett and I laugh when we watch it. We also made the Government Bailout Game.  It’s addicting and just as difficult in cyber space as it is in reality. We are thinking of you all here at Doozycards and we wish you a very happy and fulfilling April Fools Day!

Dance, Dance, Dance!

I told Bennett we have to update the blog today or we’ll end up as road kill on the information highway. However, he can’t stop dancing to “You Spin Me Right Round” by Dead or Alive. At least he’s happy. This country has seen tough times and sharing a laugh with a friend seems to be so much more profound and pleasurable than it was a year ago. It’s true we dance a lot to eighties videos in our sunporch-turned-office. I find it’s cheaper and more enjoyable than marital therapy. We realize connecting with loved ones and friends in a heartfelt way is one of life’s largest pleasures and should be on the top of everyone’s to do list.

To help you all accomplish this, our production schedule is full, full, full for Spring. Mukti, our photo card genius who spent many years at the ashram featured in “Eat Pray Love”, is currently working on a sympathy ecard and a new Get Well ecard. Bennett and I are working on new serious toned friendship birthday e cards. We are adding “Across the Miles” themed cards to all of our major holidays with Easter coming up next.

We love that you are supporting and sending blessings and good wishes to so many of your friends with our cards. You inspire us to be more supportive of those we love. My four year old sent me his first Doozycard and I was touched. It was President Obama saying “Cooper (his three year old brother) is poo poo poo”. After watching me open it, he collapsed on the floor, a pile of hysterical laughter. We were connecting.

In the works we have more “racy” birthday cards and a new 3D musical birthday ecard along the lines of our very popular singing Elvis chicken. My creative friend from high school, Mike, is animating this ecard. Mike and I went to Culver Military Academy in Indiana (that’s a whole other blog!). He does a lot of film animation for big films such as “I am Legend” and “Die Hard”. Go Mike!

Also in production: Games, April Fools prank ecards and a basket full of funny and serious Easter cards.
We thank you all for your loving and supportive emails. We actually do consider every single card request. Let us know your favorite cards and what you like to send. In the meantime, we hope you find your favorite old music videos on You Tube and Dance Dance Dance the Night Away.a>

AFTERMATH

Hi, this is Bennett again, Doozy’s organizational poobah and the voice of several critters of the ecards.

How was your Valentine’s Day? Mine was a washout, romantically speaking. I ought to have spent the day in a spa under the hands of a master masseur. I ought to have booked a flight to Cancun. I ought to have bought myself chocolate (is that the hedonist’s version of “I coulda had a V-8?”).

HOWEVER, President’s Day rocked! Romance came knocking with a sheepish look on it’s face and apologizing for taking a later train. Maybe my karma is the reverse of normal expectations? Friday the 13th turned out lucky too (knocking furiously on wood now).

Speaking of luck, our next holiday up is St. Patrick’s Day. Chandler and the production team are already cooking some fun-in-green for the occasion so prep your ecard mailing lists!

On Valentines, Chocolate, and Love

Hi, this is Bennett, Doozy’s Director of Operations and the voice of the Gecko and the Hamster (http://www.doozycards.com/new-cards-greeting-cards/valentine-strip-o-gram).

Are you in love? I’m not. Again. Well, not with a human being… I am completely in love with chocolate (dark, with almonds!). and if you are reading this and thinking of favoring me by sending me some, please know I prefer the expensive kind (sorry about that). So, being a bachelor on yet another Valentine’s Day I celebrate the day in two ways.

First, it’s a day to celebrate all the people I love and admire. I really do believe in love itself, in the most universal, profound sense. I believe that the value of being sweet to people and the value of beauty is that it evokes the experience of love inside the heart and mind. This is a kind of spiritual uplift when you offer it to someone. It creates the experience of love in your own heart at the same time. I truly believe in practicing that daily. So on Valentine’s Day I speak more sweetly, tell  more people they inspire me, and try to behave kindly and graciously because I think it makes for more love in the world all around.

Then there’s chocolate. Let me just say, Chandler is really good about giving chocolate, especially on Valentine’s Day. Everyone at Doozy gets some. And it’s the good stuff too! This reminds me; my new favorite ecard is the one we made this week; Fairy Choclate Valentine. Caroline animated it and she has this very rich sense of color. I think it’s sumptuous; see for yourself: http://www.doozycards.com/ecards/valentines-day/popular/fairy-chocolate-valentine . And then… and then.. just because we are Doozycards, we couldn’t make a lovely ecard and leave it alone. Oh no, we of course had have some fun with it. Here’s the “comic” version: http://www.doozycards.com/ecards/valentines-day/anti/perils-of-chocolate .

I hope you get lots of your favorite chocolate on Valentine’s Day. Please send lots of Doozy Valentines Day ecards; it will allow me to buy myself some truly decadent chocolates for myself and my friends. I hope love stays with you all year round.

Doozy Announces New Birthday e card – Soda Shop Birthday

soda-shop-birthday.jpg
Let singing sock hop kittens and soda jerk retrievers celebrate your recepient’s birthday in the fun fifties stylized Soda Shop Birthday. Caroline, one of our animators,  designed these characters and adorable outfits.  Our animator Josh, who makes many of our ecards, did all the flash animation. Josh was so kind to work late last night to finish it, since he was leaving for a vacation to Georgia this morning.  We are going to make some changes but we wanted to put it up so everybody could enjoy it right away. We have become known for making animated musical ecards, but we are also working hard to include variety in our ecard inventory.  We are currently making more sentimental e cards and heartfelt greeting cards.  If you are looking for a more serious, inspirational birthday card, our Love and Blessings Birthday e card is popular.  If you want to send some heartfelt birthday blessings for a year of peace and happiness , Garden Full of Blessings birthday ecard is a good choice.  As always, we love to hear your feedback and comments on the blog, the site and do let us know about ecards you want us to make. We consider every single suggestion and we thank you for choosing Doozycards.
